working,sleeping,working, sleeping.....

2002-07-05 - 4:13 p.m.

ok..so..i haven't updated in so long and now that i am updating i don't really know where to start...

The weekend was great (i know i know, tomorrow's the weekend again and i'm only just writing about last week..but it doesn't honestly seem that long ago!) On Saturday we were both working in the morning and afternoon, so that wasn't too great, but after we'd finshed there we had a nice evening checking out pre-pride day stuff on Church...talking to some new folk..and, god know's why, but in truly typically dyke fashion-dancing to bad Cajun/country music..not our type of thing exactly, but it was a laugh :)

Sunday was good too.. started the day with my mum calling to say hello and things as they went on holiday this week so i might not have been able to contact them for a while...i was still in bed when she called and it was all quite surreal..lying in a big double bed with levi..both only half dressed and talking to my mum on the phone...

Anyway..after that we stayed in bed for a little longer, re-starting the day again in the best possible way ;-)

We headed down Bloor and onto Yonge to see the Parade, which finally ran about an hour late and was on what must have been one of the hottest days ever! It was good, there was a great atmosphere and the whole thing is just so much bigger over here than it would ever be at home. We saw loads of almost naked men..some almost naked women and some actually naked men..who ended up getting arrested even though only 2 people out of everyone that was there complained...i actually got stopped in the street by a well known gay publication yesterday and asked about it...i would never have stopped at home but while i'm here..hey why not..so i might be in that this week coming.who knows.

Sunday night we headed down to the harbour front to check out all the Canada day stuff that was going on...we saw some jugglers, a great comedy sketch show about canadian history..ate some fantastic bbq chicken (meat is goooood....can you tell we aren't the world's best cooks?!!!) and finshed the long, but very good, day with a walk back from the harbour front back along church to check out the music and festivities there.

Levi was working Monday cos she works for an american company so she didn't get Canada day off :-( I went down to the harbourfront again, took some lunch with me and just sat soaking in the atmosphere and watching more comedy and magic shows etc.. around 4 i went up to Levis work to meet her and then we went to Downsview park to see the canada day stuff there...it was ok but more family orientated with rides for kids and things so we headed home after a little while, ate dinner and then ended up...back at the harbourfront to see the fireworks....which were pretty disappointing..i was expecting something massive and impressive but they were too far away to really appreciate and they weren't even as good as some of the smaller shows that we have back home....:-(

Tuesday i wasn't working during the day so i started at the harbourfront and walked all the way up Yonge until Bloor..and some of the streets that run off Yonge, handing in resumes, again in roasting hot weather! Eventually i got an interview out of it :-) .... then i was working in the stupid call centre from 5-10.30...and god do i hate working there..but it's cash and i need it..hopefully i won't have to be there for too much longer but i'm gonna see how my new job turns out before doing anything drastic.

Yes...i said new job! The interview i had on Wednesday went pretty well and i got the job! It's in a place on Church..so if you live in Toronto and frequent a pretty busy place on Church during the day..then beware- it might just be me who serves you! SO if you see someone who looks a bit lost and can't find their way around the cash register, or doesn't know how many flavours of muffins/salads the place has...then be nice, and patient...feel sorry for them...and leave a nice tip!

Yeah so basically yesterday and today have consited of getting up at 7, starting work at 8, being stressed out by having so many new things to remember and think about and learn, finishing around 2...walking for ages looking for bank accounts/ places hiring for Levi (it's pretty hard for her to find something becuase she has to look at night cos she works in her call centre during the day) new shoes etc..then going to the call centre at 5 and finishing at 10.30..not getting home till 11, sorting everything out for the next day...hardly seeing Levi at all..(although we make the most of the time we do have together ..and in this heat, shared cold showers are a good thing..as is a rule of no clothes...just becaue of the heat you understand!)

and then starting all over again...

i don't know what my schedule in the new place will be like..i'll find out on Sunday..and maybe once i know that then i can sort out this call centre thing..just keep it on a few nights a week instead of every night and then i might be slightly more settled that i am just now...i just need to know what work i'm doing and when and then maybe i can start enjoying myself.

I also really hope that Levi finds something better soon to work in...i mean not to give up the call centre completley but find a job at night to supplement it..or change that to a night shift and find something during the day....

so if you know of anywhere hiring in Toronto, leave an anonymous note in the guestbook ;-) it would be much appreciated :)

Anyway, it's almost 5 again, so i guess i should probably head back to work..to sell more newspapers...if some calls from the Globe and Mail newspaper asking you to try it out for a month..say YES...i'll get to keep my job and it really is just a trial, we DO send the money back!!!!!

god i think that place is getting to me..
